It's only a matter of time before we've all caught the 15mm sci-fi bug. Oh, you protest! But you'll join us, sooner or later... >:D
I thought it was a myth until a year ago, now I'm waiting for yet another batch of miniatures from Khurasan...

I have been looking at the khurasan stuff but a bit wary of import charges

Excellent start! I love those models! 15mm.co.uk may have some that can add more flavour to your not mos-eisley but they are a bit bigger (although I suppose Aliens it doesn't matter).

Look forward to more!  :D

I too feel the draw of the smaller yet still characterful scale.  What to collect and who to game with though? hmm.... ???  ::)

It's a boring gamble I admit. Thankfully, we're a bunch of guys ordering, so any extra "administration" costs will be split between us. It takes the piss, but it isn't a "30£ quid?! You ****s!" moment waiting to happen.

Yes thats the reason ive never ordered from khurasan as well, or anywhere outside the EU, got stung once, not going to get stung again.

But 15mm is the way forwards. You do realise you can have a lovely skirmish table thatll comfortably fit on to a coffe table and still be equivilent to a 4' square table at 28mm? That the terrain takes up an eighth of the space that equivilent 28mm terrain does? That PF makes just as cool 15mm minis (like those from critical mass, lovely minis, yes?) as he does 28mm? There are so many good reasons why 15mm is the new black. (Now if only fantasy gaming can catch up).

Very good start, love those!! Someday I'll buy them too.

The trap with 15mm is, they paint faster than 28mm but then you receive a lot of them!!  ;D lol

Looking forward to seeing more of those aliens.

Cheers.

All of the above.
I have to warn you though - 15mm the true scale. So you will always feel a bit dirty when you make the terrain.

I have been looking at the khurasan stuff but a bit wary of import charges

I placed an order with Khurasan and had to pay import charges.  The biggest con of it all is the £8 'admin' fee that the post office add on.

In anticipation of the charge, I placed a larger order so the import charges and admin fee were relatively small in comparison to the purchase price, and I got a metric f*ck-tonne of figures to boot!  :D

You know it makes sense  ;)

Yeah i dont mind the import charges, its the admin fee that feels like highway robbery. Here in Denmark thats the equivelent of £16! That makes you really think twice about ordering from outside the eu.

There is a way of avoiding the 'admin fees' I admittedly hadn't been hit by a single admin fee until I got a little over zealous and ordered over £100 worth of stuff. Was immediately hit. If you order within a certain limit you generally get away with it. if you order too little or too much (the safe mark is between £20-£100) you will likely get the fees. I've ordered from the states about 10 times, and only been hit once.

Nope, I've been hit many times for orders under £100. I don't mind paying tax, I do mind paying a handling fee. It's generally down to how busy customs is when your order comes through and maybe how big your box is too, a small box is less likely to draw attention.
So many projects..... so little time.......
