American civil war living history event at Avoncroft Museum

BROMSGROVE residents are being given the chance to experience what life would have been like during the American Civil War.

History will be brought to life at Avoncroft Museum as it would have been like during the civil war, one of the most turbulent periods of US history.

Re-enactors from the American Civil War Society will spend the weekend living in the grounds of the Redditch Road-based museum, portraying military and civilian life in 1860s America.

The museum's weekend takes place on the weekend of Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the living history camps of the Union and Confederate armies, and talk to soldiers and camp followers.

Twice a day visitors will be get to see the Union and Confederate armies clash, fighting out the issues that divide them.

There is no additional cost to see this special event at the museum as it is included in the admission price of £8.80 for adults, £7.70 for seniors and £4.50 for children.
