28mm Hoplites
« on: June 10, 2015, 04:47:24 PM »
Ladies and Gentlemen,

has mentioned in another thread here at the forward HQ we (ok me, and my assistant in chief... ok she usually just play with the vallejo little bottles) are working on an ancient greek project... The core of it... the might Phalanx of Corinth is done... and the light troops are following so I decided that it was time to show them to the demos...  :D for kind comments and maybe criticism.

A full box of Warlord Hoplites assembled and painted.

I did them in two batches, one in 2012 one in 2015... and in two countries... some of them were even carried painted by plane...

Here is a detail shot (I toke some more, but they are on my blog, it has no advert so feel free to pop there):

I think you have done a splendid job on these fine fellows.  The shields come up well and the painting on the figures is very good.  Still have a few of these guys left to do - the unarmoured ones will feature as rear ranks in my leftover phalanx  (all those odd hoplites left from my 24 man phalanxes).

Shame they are a 'tad' smaller than their plastic cousins but they are nice sculpts.
