Good luck in finding some.
I have looked at a few packs of Baker Company figures.
They are about the only ones really out there.
Sad to say I really don't care for them.
For some early ARVN, I have been thinking of using some WWII Marines.
Battle Honors figures look like they could work.
I would love to have someone tell me I am wrong and point me along the right path.

Yes... 'best' translates to 'only'.  ::)

You could use WWII U.S. Marines, but then you don't get 'the rifles and helmets are too big for these guys' look of the bulk of the ARVN and of course the figures are 'super-sized' in terms of height (okay all Vietnamese aren't vertically-challenged and all Americans aren't giants).

For me the '62-'65 period is far more interesting to game, but even if you wanted to go into the 'Mattel Rifle' era, the ARVN are definitely ignored by manufacturers.

Actually I think the Baker Company Vietnam range is rather good. I have US Army and Marines and really like them (at the moment probably they are the best 28mm USMC range around). The ARVN look good, they are on my shop list...

Parkfield miniatures do a limited range of Kit Carson scouts with M16s. I've not seen the figures in the flesh but the photos of their ranges look pretty good. They are going to be a whole world better than RLPS figures. You can probably do head swaps from their Yanks or get the Wargames Factory WW2 Americans which will give you about 30 odd helmeted heads. That box is worth it just for the spares alone, it's the main reason I bought one.

I'm sure Simon (iirc?) of Parkfield Minis is a LAF member... I could be wrong though. He *might* be persuaded to do some ARVN if there were enough people interested, as I seem to recall him saying somewhere that he intended to expand on their Vietnam range. Drop him an e-mail at the address on the site.

I feel you are being a little harsh on the rlbps figs, the vc I have won recently on the cheap are quite nice when you fit the heads on right.

I have looked at photos of the Parkfield figures.
I like what I see.
I was thinking of using  them for some ARVN.
My thinking is they look to be a little smaller than the TAG figures I have for US.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I know that is not the perfect solution, but am still looking.
Of course it would be great if there was range of ARVN.

I have both Parkfield and TAG and I do not find the former smaller. I will post a picture ASAP.

There was a recent thread about the FoA Vietnam figures that has some comparison shots, including Parkfield.

Should that not be the case anyway?  :)

The Parkfield minis are nice sculpts (the comparison photo was mine). The US figures certainly aren't small. Some ARVN would be great if either Simon at Parkfield or John at FoA would do some.

Arlequin,

Thanks for the post with the different figures.
Even with my old eyes, the Parkfield figures compare very well with other companies' figures.
Will have to look into purchasing some.
