Gorgarrak's Frostgrave Project
« on: June 16, 2015, 06:59:27 PM »
The Frostgrave rules from North Star and Osprey are imminent, so it's time to start my project, building a Warband, random encounter creatures and terrain to fight over, I've had a root through my lead pile and I decided that the best place for me to start would be the random encounters, so it's time for me to build and paint a bunch of bits and pieces from the lowly unarmoured skeleton to the mighty Frost Giant and everything in between that will be found in the dark depths of the frozen lost city.
This morning I managed to get an Otherworld Ice Toad, a Ral Partha Cave Bear and Yeti which will count as a White Gorilla in the rules

I also found a Ral Partha Ice Troll, Ice Elemental and a Reaper Bones Frost Wyrm

I'll keep this thread updated as I progress, next up 2 more Ice Trolls, some blue skinned Frost Barbarians and a pack of wolves.

Excellent! I saw those on FB earlier today.
I got the snow-troll and other stuff myself the other day.  RalPartha Europe has loads of useful stuff. The DSA/Dark Eye has a lot of wintery types.
If you don't believe in lead, you're already dead.

I've not had much time for painting today but I have managed to get a few coats on a handful of models, first up is an Ice Barbarian that I painted a couple of weeks ago that I'll include somewhere in the game, I'm not sure what he'll count as

I've made a start with some basecoating on the rest of the Ice Barbarians, I guess these guys will be played as Ghouls in Frostgrave but they'll pull double duty as actual Icewind Dale Frost Barbarians in D&D skirmish and the same in Song of Blades and Heroes/Gold and Darkness

WIP shot

Lastly I've managed to get the skin done on one of two Ice Trolls, I love these miniatures, though one clearly had the metal too hot when it was cast as it has imperfections and cratering on it's foot. This is the first time I've tried blending as I usually paint in either three distinct unblended layers or basecoat-wash-highlight.
As I had so few miniatures to paint for Frostgrave I thought that I'd try a more advanced technique.

I think it's turned out quite well, what do you guys think
