Many thanks, sirrah, but I was considering the styrene ones. Hollow, 'capping' the ends of broken columns would be tricky.

Try gluing a round plasticard disc over then end then you can milliput the damaged end over that.

They are pretty thin-walled, so that seems more likely to work. I'd even think a couple of cuts and a couple of pieces of plastic, sort of /\_ , then roughed out, might do. I've a few columns lying around fallow, and it's the kind of thing I'd at least start.  ;)
