Cheap Palm Trees
« on: October 26, 2008, 10:29:30 PM »
If you are in the US and have a Michael's Craft store near you, they have their Halloween Spooky-Town stuff from Lemax on sale for 50% off. I picked up four of the medium palm trees they did for their Pirate Halloween set for $2.50 each.

You actually prompted me to have a look for vendors in Australia. Lemax does get out here, too.

Banana Trees

Changing topic slightly, has anyone seen/used the Pegasus Hobbies 1/72 scale Bananas trees? Seems they might suit a planted field terrain piece for Africa or Asia? Was thinking of basing them on washers for stability and able to configure differently.
Cheers,

I've got a box of them sold to me by Admiral Benbow.  Still haven't fixed them up yet but I'm lean towards mounting (there are 15 trees in a box) 5 on 3 CD disks. Caution, the trunks are a bit thin, so individual mounting may not be the best way to go.

I also got 3 boxes of Pegasus Palm Trees from the Admiral and these are a bit more problematic (basing wise) as they are quite large.  My plan had been to base 2 or 3 on CD disks, but they won't fit.  In fact, 2 won't fit on a CD. They are quite sturdy though and will look great individually mounted.

These are excellent trees, but a bit of paint is in order here if you want to bring the best out of them.
