Sources for alternate Wizard/Apprentice Figures?

Nobody's mentioned Hasslefree yet. They have some very nice wizards in their fantasy range, this is their latest.

Seriously though I went back into my Grenadiers and Citadel boxes and had a couple dozen wizards to chose from.

I was but a twinkle in my father's eye 30 years ago, so unfortunately my bits box does not run that far back...

If you like 25mm to true 28mm classic fantasy you could take a look on ral partha ranges and metal magic range too.

Bit biased as I have a lot of old stuff in my bits box, almost even finished some.

Its really starting to tempt me to put an order in to Mirliton for some I don't have.

Lots of mentions of RPE europe here and elsewhere, 25-28mm true rather than heroic scale, if your bothered much about scale differences - mostly I am not unless its standing a Reaper bones mini against a Ral Partha.. kind of thing.

I've got two warbands on the bench; One Necromancer, and one Thaumaturge. I've included the manufacturers' images below, as well as links for those interested. RBG in particular have some gorgeous minis that are perfect for Frostgrave. They're a bit slighter than most heroic ranges, so should fit well with the Frostgrave range.

Personally, I think finding wizard figures is easy, they are after all a staple of the genre.  What I find more difficult is finding suitable apprentice figures.  Everybody makes long bearded wizards and ornate sorcereses, but younger, more modestly dressed magic users are much less common.  I know Reaper has a few but I've not seen any others (outside the official Frostgrave line, of course).

You're right. I want some dopey looking kid whos family has placed him the care of some grizzeled wizard to teach him to harness his magic. His family is from a long line of great and brave fighters but for some reason this kid can't get it together enough to wield a sword but has a strange apptitude for trickery...

They're on my list as well Nick as my daughter's elementalist and apprentice.she's going all Frozen themed for her warband after I showed her a picture of them on your website.

In relation to apprentice miniatures mdauben I think you're right they just aren't readily available outside of the frostgrave ones as there's not been much call up to now for modest or naive looking wizard's. If you find a wizard you like you could consider kit bashing an apprentice to accompany him or her from plastic like the ones Smith did for his all-plastic-pre-official-frostgrave-miniatures warbands - sorry can't seem to figure out inserting a link to his thread or blog

You're totally right about the lack of apprentices. i guess when people make wizards they want to make them super cool and bad ass, and "they're in training" hasn't been much of a demand. My sculptor Phil Hynes is making me another Orc Sorceress with a smaller chum, which won't be too long before they're out.

When I was picking out my own warband, the apprentice was something I struggled with deciding on as I wanted her to look similar enough to the wizard but not equally as cool, and most were equally as cool. I bought those Young Fire Elementalists that Nick posted above and used the one on the right as the apprentice to an Otherworld Barbarian (I think she's actually more suited than their wizard model!) as it seemed fitting that she would have a young girl apprentice (she is still very cool but at least smaller so the hierarchy is obvious)
