Starting Skirmish gaming The Greek War of Independence
« on: August 08, 2015, 08:37:17 AM »
The reason for this post was an enquiry from an experienced gamer but new to this period as to the possible make up of two 30 man forces .

My advice was for the Greek force 2 ten men units of Irregulars and dependent as to the type of game sought the 3rd group either latter Greek regulars or for an earlier setting a group of European volunteers.

The make up of the Ottomans should be 1 unit of Albanians, I unit of Ottoman irregulars and 1 unit of either provincial or Guard Infantry.

A good set of skirmish rules such as Sharpe Practice

Hey Shipka,

Looking forward to seeing your forces and games covering this conflict.

If you haven't seen it there's some information on forces on this site:

I like Smooth and Rifled for skirmish gaming.

Cheers!

I just had a short article published in the most recent journal of the continental wars society on the anglo-french siege of Morea in 1828. French infantry and chassuers backed up by a small British naval brigade. It would make a intresting scenerio for a wargame.
Its a almost forgotten incident in history. If you like I can send you the allied order of battle.
