Brigade Games Japanese Flag Bearer - SNLF
« on: October 29, 2008, 11:07:31 PM »
Hi folks,

Here is my first ever painted Brigade Games Japanese and as Johnny Todd started with his beautiful Japanese Army standard bearer I thought I'd show you my naval version of the standard bearer painted as a SNLF flag bearer. This is the actual miniature figurine from Brigade Games. Michael provided me with a copy of the flags inwhich I reduced, printed and re-painted. I found a spare orb and stuck this on top of the pole. I'm very happy that my painting has improved since starting 1 year ago.

My thanks firstly to Bruce Meyer for the Japanese figures and Michael Broadbent for lending me the movie and taking the photos. Lastly, I was inspired by 'Letters from Iwo Jima' for getting interested (I blame Michael!) in my own back yard of the South Pacific in WW2.

I've actually stood in a Type 89 tank in Bougainville in early 2000 when I was part of our Peace Monitoring Mission with others back then.

Thats a nice dynamic figure and a really good paint job. 8)

I had no idea you'd only been painting for a year.

You have a lovely style.

Thanks guys!

It's amazing what the camera picks up. I notice a chip on the pole which has now been sorted and I'll get to spray a matt varnish in the next few days alongside other figurines I'm working on for another project.

Thanks again for your kind words.

Don't you just hate that? It always happens to me. Little places where I have missed a spot, mistakes I didn't notice and so forth, that you just don't see with the naked eye. The damn camera always spots them.

By Shinto I do Dylan! I'm so fussy with my painting now that I keep going over areas where there is a slight blemish an that means more time on the painting table. I'll be just glad to finish 18 British WW1 figures today that I've been working on for over two weeks. Okay I've been working on other figures too.  8)
