Painted up some Terminators
« on: 21 August 2015, 01:02:03 AM »
Okay, so I painted up the Terminators from the Warlord "Terminator: Genisys" boxed set.   I decided to base the crawlers too (damned things do not come with bases which is asinine).  Currently the crawlers are not yet glued to the bases.  I tried to make the bases come close to matching the included game mat, but it varies in tone and my lighting sucks (that is my damned excuse and I'm sticking with it!).

Lighting in my work area is really bad, so I tried taking the pictures with and without a flash and moving my lamp a bit.   In a couple, the bases look more gray than they really are.

What do you think?

All painted with cheap craft paints, the terminators took maybe an hour to do, plus time between layers for drying.   Bases took about as long but had more drying time as the acrylic pumice medium I used had to dry overnight.

Those have worked well. How were they to assemble?

I like your paintjobs, but I do find those figures rather dreadful.  But, I guess we're not overwhelmed with choice for Terminators at the moment are we?

They were easy to assemble, put on arms, add a drop of plastic cement, done.  I did cut off a few heads and glued them back on at different angles.

I always liked the EM-4 Terminators.  I had a bunch painted up I found another home for a while ago.   You can see some of the ones I painted here:

I was going to ask about possibilities of modding them, is it limited to the heads?
I have the EM-4 ones, and the Copplestone ones too, which I think are by the same guy. They're very nice.
Mine look like this:

I've since added skulls and bones to the bases to make them look more like them stomping across barren wastelands in the first film.

I repositioned several arms on the EM4 figures.

Your's look great by the way!

Ahhh, a good idea which didn't occur to me and thanks.

I think the EM4 ones have slightly different, and better, faces. I haven't quite finished painting the Copplestone ones, but they are close to finished so I might bosh them out this weekend.

That reminds me of Owl Pellets, good source for tiny bones.
