Age of Sigmar terrain
« on: 13 September 2015, 07:14:37 PM »
So, I do paint for commissions occasionally - usually for friends.  One of my buds brought me a bunch of GW and Armorcast terrain, including some of the new gates, so I thought I would share.  The gates are being guarded by Skeletork, Mastork of the Ooniverse!  As you can tell, these were finished at various times here and there over the last few...

I usually ignore GW terrain items because of ... well, skulls. But I have to say I like that spawning pool in spite of (or because of?) skulls.

And you have done an excellent job on everything.

Thanks.  Unfortunately, I missed one.

I have been  lucky enough to paint all of the terrain GW has put out, before I have had to buy it (mainly because of this one friend) and it has allowed me to be picky, and figure out how to hide a lot of the skulls.

I gotta say, I thought these looked pretty bad on the GW site, but your painting has rescued them.  :) The "ancient stonework with some bright colors" aesthetic looks far better than the "gold plated steel with some oily steel and angry iron" look they had going on.  lol

Nice work!  :-*

I think my favorites from GW are the Numinous Occulum and the Dragonfate Dais (which you did a great job on).

The rest, not so much.

Personally, I like the Baleful Realmgates, I just can't wrap my head around the pricing.  I may buckle under and pick up a set of them anyway.  The Dragonfate Dais is one I had to discuss with the owner for a bit - he built it before he gave it to me to paint, and the under parts with the pool was a right pain to get to.

I have been using this aesthetic with everything I have done for him, and it getting to the point that a table of stuff is pretty cool to see.

Good job!

I must admit I don't understand the dragon door piece. What is going on there? Is the dragon part of the architecture? Or some kind of corruption? ;D

It is part of the structure - he is fighting the knight in the right corner.  I was trying for a jade overlay look.

That stuff looks great.  I wish I had those realm gates.  I tried ordering them but they seem to be sold out or something.

Here is my Numinous Occulum in action:

Nice.  I haven't had to do that one yet, but he told me he had more coming tomorrow, so we'll see what I end up with now...

Very nice.  I like the new weird terrain (the new figures, not so much).  I have assembled my gates, but not started in on them yet.

Pictors Studio, also a nice job on your Numinous Occulum.

Very nice pieces :) well done matey.

I like the turquoise of the second gate and I have to admit it is the one that I would like to get as it reminds my of the original Skyrim trailer  lol
