Goings-on at Four-Poster Farm - Pulp Alley - End Game
« on: 14 September 2015, 11:26:29 AM »
After the inconclusive skirmish at Little Beddings, http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=81994.0, things have taken a darker turn. In the rolling downland to the north of Little Beddings, known as The Eider Downs, there are rumours of weird cultist activities (and no - I don't mean Morris Dancers - be quiet at the back...! These are proper cultists with purple robes and pointy hoods and everything).

Anyway, to continue. This development has led to The Authorities taking over the case in place of the private enterprise of Sir Gilbert Hill. Enter Inspector Dan Phillips, leader of a recently formed Borsetshire special police squad (known as The Squad). His investigations are centred on Four-Poster Farm and the adjacent inn, The Duck and Duvet.

At the moment, all is quiet on the Eider Downs

Not a soul to be seen in Four-Poster Farm

No customers at the Duck and Duvet

This is all looking very ominous........

At least it's easy to get from Borsetshire to Bedfordshire: you just go up the wooden hill ...

After the inconclusive mayhem at Little Beddings http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=81994.0, Pimm's League scarpered in a Northerly direction, at some speed and with not a little wanton destruction. As the League's morale collapsed and their unity disintegrated, individual members sought to hide various arcane items in their possession in the area of Four-Poster Farm.

It wasn't long before rumours of this reached interested ears and so it was that a certain Dr Weevil, and his sinister minions arrived in search of these valuable items. However, these Dastardly Denizens of The Dark were not destined to have things all their own way. Oh no...! Inspector Dan Phillips and his highly trained squad of highly trained Borsetshire coppers ("The Squad") are also on the case........

As this was only the second game of PA myself and Gary (Forlorn Hope) Tate had played, we stuck to a basic scenario - The Lost Keys. On the Scenario Events, I rolled a useful "Well Prepared" (extra Fortune card on turn one), whilst Gary, for the second time in succession, rolled "Danger Danger" (all Perils count as Extreme Perils). Thanks, Gary...!

INITIAL DEPLOYMENT AND LOCATION OF PLOT POINTS
KEY Yellow arrows=Plot Point locations    Red arrows=Dr Weevil's League deployment    Blue arrows=The Squad's deployment

Turn 1 and some of Dr Weevil's minions enter from the West (left - see set-up photo).

The Doc himself, with Scientist (Sidekick) and "Lurch" (an Ally, I think) and some minions swarm round the Duck and Duvet.

On the opposite side of the board (East), the Doc's Assassin sneaks up to Four-Poster Farm

Meanwhile, Sergeant Standish (Sidekick), with 3 constables (2 Allies and a Follower), enter from the South and leap over the wall into the farm yard.

At the opposite (North) end of the table, Inspector Phillips and 2 constables (Allies), rush to the postern adjacent to the farm's main gate.

Turn 1 has consisted of everyone manouvering for position.....

Good ol' Lost Keys. Still one of my favorites.  The deployment for this scenario can be really interesting.

Love seeing your beautiful terrain and figures in action. THANKS for playing Pulp Alley.

I hope you are collecting your Phantom Agent awards from Mila -- https://store.pulpalley.com/

Thanks, Dave; I got my Reward card for my last AAR so maybe I should request one for this as well (don't want to be greedy...!).

Anyway, to continue:

Sergeant Standish leads his group back out of the farm and on to the road.

Sending his men up the road to secure the Plot point in the next field on the left, he moves to confront one of Weevil's men:

Meanwhile, Inspector Phillips takes the Plot point hidden by the farm's barn - his men move towards the Major Plot point near the main gate:

But the coppers don't have it all their own way. Braving (successfully) the Perils of the Duck and Duvet external landing, Weevil captures a Plot point:

End of turn 2 and both sides have a Plot point.

Doug
