western figures compatible with Perry ?
« on: September 16, 2015, 12:15:24 PM »
Well comparable with Iron Duke really, but Iron Duke are a perfect size match for the better known  Perry.

I am wanting civilian figures for the Indian Mutiny. The various wild west ranges have lots of very useful figures but they must be roughly compatible with the Iron Duke miniatures ie. just a bit bigger than Foundry.

I would be very grateful for any pointers that anyone could give me about which ranges to buy and which to avoid. (and yes I have bought the Perry's ACW rioters, thank you).

Thanks for any help you can give me.

John

Thank you Romark. I had forgotten about those, as you say they are perfect.

There seems to have been a largely forgotten sub class of European merchants, clerks, telegraph employees and railwaymen who were not 'Gentlemen or Officers' and have a lot in common with western townsfolk.

The Western range from Brigade games are sculpted by Mr Hicks so will also fit in with the Perrys.

Thank you Gentlemen, those are some very helpful suggestions.

I have bought some Brigade games Napoleonic sailors in the past and was impressed with them.  I have also just looked at knuckleduster now and they look very promising and of course I had forgotten that some Redoubt ranges are much smaller than the ECW I have.

That makes a great start. Thanks again.

From left to right, Iron Duke officer, two Franco-Prussian war civilians from foundry(comparable to their older western stuff), iron duke officer, darkest africa explorer(comparable to newer copplestone western stuff from foundry) and a perry German.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Kommando,

that is a very clear illustration and the distinction between the two Foundry ranges is especially helpful. The good news is that it looks like both would be usable given that one has both tall bulky people and also short and fat (like myself).

I thought so too, really the only problem is some weapons may be out of scale but even then you do get variants so as long as the proportions aren't too small i'd say they'd be fine.
