That grey Seer is great. Is that a missing eye?

Yeah I think you are right. I never noticed, I just picked a head that would fit well onto the body. Maybe I should add a patch...

Isn't the traditional thing a chunk of warpstone (like the original Throt)?

Great conversions!

Hmm some warpstone would look cool indeed. I use a small stone for that

I've completed some more conversions of the older Skaven clanrats, this time they have spears using mostly arms from the clanrats boxed set. I modified them slightly the same as the other clanrats with new shields and the odd bit of green stuff.

I've just got enough figures for a 20 man unit of spear and a 20 man unit of swords using these old figures

Hi all

I'm still chipping away at this army and finished some more figures - this time a unit of Rat Ogres. These are a mix of the older and newer plastic models but work well enough together. I didn't do any extra work on them apart from cover the mould lines and a splash of greenstuff.

Thanks for looking

While I have a ton of Skaven and other fantasy figures to paint along with a Reaper Bones 3 kickstarter arriving in a few months, I have a hankering to make some more terrain. I generally enjoy making terrain more than painting figures and I want to expand my fantasy collection with some old school fantasy buildings.

The first new building is this old fantasy cottage which featured in an early White Dwarf magazine. I made one in the early 90s (but lost it somewhere along the way) and now I plan to make 2 more and then follow it with some of the other classic GW buildings like the stables, townhouse and so forth.

The basic shape cut from black foamboard

Some windows and doors cut out. I have kept it deliberately simple as that as the intention of the original design

Some details. I've cut away the end of the wall to create a better joint and started on a chimney

BTW you can find the instructions here
http://realmofchaos80s.blogspot.co.nz/2014/02/a-dark-deranged-structure-old-school.html

More soon.

I've made a small bit of progress last night on this. I cut the pieces for the second cottage and started on the windows and completed most of the chimney.

The Windows are mounted on card and the mesh is flyscreen door mesh. I've started on the timber frame of the Windows using some balsa wood.

Nice beginning there.
Must get me some fly screen door mesh (where'd you get it and how much?)

Bunnings or Mitre 10. You can buy it in a roll by the meter or try scrounging some from a old flyscreen door. I actually got some off a mate who had some spare.

And a little more progress

I've completed the windows and started on the roofs, doors and a extension for one of the cottages.

And now some work on the roof tiles cut from card. I pre-cut a bunch while watching TV over a few nights.

Also I finished assembling the lean-to and did a little more on the doors.

And next I marked out where the balsa wood will go.

"This highly detailed plastic kit has a billion parts, enough to allow you to build either the Bloodhovyl or the Deathcottyge! The Bloodhovyl gives any models within 3" +trillion strength points! The Deathcottyge gives any models within 3" +squillion attacks! £75 each! Or available in a convenient one-click bundle from our website - two for £165...!"

Ahem. Sorry. I saw old WD content and then I blacked out.

Nice work on the cottage. :) All the extra details you're adding look very promising.

The old old WDs were good and had lots of good building making articles. I'm gonna work through them and make the Inn and some townhouses and maybe the Barn.

I've made some progress and they are starting to look like buildings now!

I've detailing and texturing the buildings using balsa and coloured caulk. I should have really painted the balsa before gluing it on but I was impatient.

And I finished the lean-to and textured it

Enjoy
