Good to see  :-*

Do Crusader still do the Normans with the older horses? (Or did you buy them a while ago?)

Darrell.

2nd hand purchase Daz, the horses are a bit ordinary but no worse than FR's 'orses

I prefer those old horses- they look pretty good painted up too. more like Norman warhorses with strong short backs. They are a little large but that can be overlooked :)

I dont mind easy to paint horses but if the musculature isn't on the sculpt I cant really be too bothered about painting it in. They scrub up OK I think and with knights most people are focusing on shields and/or armour.

Very nice. It's hard to get a lot of character in figures of Norman cabalarii, you've definitely succeeded.

Next batch of K'niggits (WIP). Gripping Beast this time, I didn't find them as clean and paintable as the Crusader Miniatures above  >:(

Decided to try my hand at a beastie shield, I think next time I might get some reference material to paint from instead of trying to wing it  o_o

Your braver than I am with the shield designs lol. I'm thinking maybe drawing on the shape with a mapping pen and then that will give me something to paint over.

Nice work on the banged up shields. Normans should never be precious.

I heartily recommend this approach.  :D

Nice work. I always paint my shields as it's often quicker to do so than to add a transfer in many cases!

What with the painting the shield white, carefully cutting out the transfer, adding it to the shield, leaving it to dry overnight and then having to gloss it for protection.....

I do use LBM banners and when I get around to doing the Islamic forces for Arsuf I'll be using shield transfers but not on the Christian forces.

Cheers Darrell. Yeah, I used a couple of LBM transfers for more complicated designs but generally paint the simpler ones, it is much easier and to be honest I doubt they were so perfect in real life.
