Sparkley Pretty Treasure Tokens
« on: September 27, 2015, 07:54:47 PM »
I made these last night - an hour and a half from start to finish. I've really struggled this year with painting mojo, mostly finding the time, then trying to rush it all, whilst having no dedicated space (I work too much!) but I have relatively recently realised that small goals with set timeframes seem to get me results! So I sat down with a film last night and these tokens, with the aim to be done by the time the film is done. (Muppets Christmas Carol  if you were wondering, 85 minutes)

I saw the piles of glitter being used on here a while ago and thought it was just ace, so had to have a go. I've been stocking the gems and glitter in my Frostgrave shop so wanted to make a good example too (which definitely worked with the Statuesque Heads/Frostgrave Soldiers bodies thing!)

Anyway ramble aside, here they are. Slightly fuzzy picture as it was a "woohoo I'm done" snap on the phone, but you get the picture. I'll have them at Derby Worlds next week if you want a better look, as well as the gem and glitter kits, for when you totally realise you have to have a go yourself. I use iridescent glitter as it catches the light and really sparkles, which is what you want (to keep easy track of them on the board if anything!)

It really is as simple as paint token, put on pva glue, put on glitters/gems. I use 4ground PVA, but any good quality one will work (rubbish PVA is nasty)

Cheers!

My girls use a lot with glitter on their hobby projects, and to be honest I hate that stuff. You find it back everywhere afterwards. But seeing these bases I think I need to rob their supply for my own hobby projects.  lol

I looked through your store; will you be bringing all the frostgrave stuff to Crisis?

You sure can. I'm here pretty much all the time, but best to send me an email and organise in advance just so I know you're coming and can have the things ready. As I'm not a walk in shop - just an office in the back, it's an area that looks like a box and tub explosion (now with added glitter) with the tip tapping of me somewhere underneath it all. Gives me a chance to hoover  8) email details are here http://thedicebaglady.net/contact/

Wrinklestiltskin - I shall indeed! You can preorder if you know what you definitely want, or just turn up and browse. I have a humongous stall in the main hall as you go in, next to Gripping Beast (they're always easy to spot!)

Cheers!

Thanks,

I know for sure that I'd like the two rendera ruins sets and the 4ground fire-wall. I'll probably add more stuff when I'm looking, so it's ok for now no need to preorder.

Don't worry, we'll definately find your stand. Last year was the first Crisis for me. But I know my buddies always visit.  :D

I was so inspired by this that I went to Michael's and found some similar gems and did this to my Frostgrave tokens. Your gems look smaller than mine, though I got the smallest I could find (I like yours better), but props for the idea!

The treasure are really nice. Very nice in fact. But I'm sorry I'm struggling to get past the Muppets Christmas Carol in the beginning of November ;)

Looks surprisingly good - normally the gems are too big and glitter is ordinarily to be avoided like the plague but you have made me rethink the whole idea.

Thanks!  :D It does work suprisingly well.

Muppets in November is good for me, it is usually watched all year around  ;)
