Frogi's Figures - now with Hulk Hogan (10-10-15)
« on: 28 September 2015, 02:24:13 AM »
I've been gathering wandering monsters for a foray into Frostgrave and the Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish game. As I was going through my collected pewter, I remembered my Wrath of Ashardalon game and it's set of figures. I couldn't resist painting up the Crap Monster (Otyugh).

A small disclaimer: I have no respect for plastic figures and made no attempt to clear the flash and mold lines. That being said, I wish they had this exact model in pewter cause it was a treat to paint.

I'm working on some more wandering monsters and scenario elements so I'll post them here as I get them finished.

Very nice! Well, maybe "nice" isn't the right adjective for an otyugh...

Here is my proof of concept for the living statues scenario in Frostgrave. This is a 1984-era Ral Partha 25mm figure. I forgot how well cast the old lead is.  I know there are going to be people cry about me cutting the old bases off vintage lead.

This is base coated in Reaper 09263 Mint Green, followed by Army Painter Soft Tone, then dry brushed with Reaper 09049 Ancient Bronze. IMO, this turned out to be a great patina'd bronze without buying a special weathering blend.

5 more to do (all old Ral Partha Knights).

Hulk Hogan?

Actually it's Weglaf the Wise from Red Box Games. Bought it with the intention of a tabletop standard paint job, but he was much too nice a figure for that.
