Can you empower versus Beauty?
« on: 29 September 2015, 05:24:39 PM »
In a recent game, one of our fellow 'gravers insisted that Resisting a spell with a will roll could be empowered, but passing a will roll versus a spell effect could not.  The Beauty spell clearly states that when you're attacking a target with beauty, you PASS a will roll.  The section of the rule book on resisting spells states that many spells allow a target to RESIST the spell with a will roll.

We didn't want to argue, so we didn't allow empowering of the Beauty will roll, but it seems the spirit of the rules would be that you're resisting the effects of Beauty, so you should be able to empower.  Which is right?

No, the rules do not allow for you to empower versus beauty.

The reasoning being - the will roll is to see if you fall for the illusion.  If you do - you don't actual know that there is a spell to resist, so you wouldn't exert any effort to empower such a resistance.
