Welcome to Hammer Hollow: Pic Heavy...you were warned! ;)
« on: 01 October 2015, 02:44:53 AM »
So I am finally getting around to putting my terrain board together.  This has been in the planning stages for quite some time.  Well with a bit of free space on the painting schedule, I decide to get after it.

After scouring the interwebs for inspiration I finally settled on what I needed.  I got my hills cut, my accessories ordered, and bought some spray foam.

So this is going to be Hammer Hollow a 4x4 board made up of four 2x2 sections. With each section being it's own little location.  So far I have the Spider Wood, the Black Tower, The Pit, and Hog Hill (names subject to change).

On with the pic's....oh and did I mention spray foam is really fun to use!

So still very much a work in progress.  I'm going to tackle each section one at a time so will post as I complete them.  The landscape will be littered with vases, candles, skulls, and treasure chests.  Any questions comments welcome, and hit me up with alternate names.  Who knows yours might stick. ;) More to follow here and on my blog.

This looks cool. Where did you get your little resin pieces from? I really like some of them, especially the spider coming out from under the tree stump.

The board has definite UBERCOOL potential. Even at this early stage the level of detailing is OUTSTANDING! This is a project that I will follow with interest. Have FUN with it all, AND, if you need any mushrooms give a holler!

Excellent stuff! It reminds me of a huge terrain layout i saw at a model show in Pontypridd some time in the mid 70s, swampy woods, a hill with a cave (with dragon), trails all over it.
Looking firward to more pics.....

Be careful when you cut the expanding foam to shape your hills...(assuming you are going to cut it?) - it is hollow !

So I have got the base foam pasted and based coated.  Apologies for the poor pics but I was in a rush, and the light was not cooperating either.  I have gone with the ground color as my normal color for my fantasy bases.

The rocks are going to be a burnt sienna brown. (Yes I know, the hills look like giant piles of shit at this point).  Hopefully we can get that remedied. LOL

With the trees and flagstones being a bone color.  The tower on a whim is going to be black.  I though battles fought around a dark/black tower sounded pretty sweet.
