GRU Spetsnaz
« on: October 03, 2015, 07:02:57 PM »
We are are pleased to announce that the first in our long awaited Russian Spetsnaz are now on sale. A lot of work has gone into the research of these figures and we are really happy with how they have come out. The casters have done an exceptional job on these, as has the painter John Morris.
We've gone for two styles to begin with.. the classic direct action loadout and a team for more discreet operations..

The covert team looks very useful indeed. Any plans for more like that?

I've been thinking up scenarios using those spetsnaz minis for a few days now, and concluded that I have to invest in a few... They look fantastic

I like the figures - the AKs aren't look too great, but I can deal.  This is something I'd likely purchase when I eventually begin my moderns.

The AKs are actually highly modified AK74 using Zentico aftermarket parts. This makes them look quite unusual, but accurate for Spetsnaz operators. Just like their Western counterparts, firearms are often extensively modified and also seem to be painted pretty much all the time now, which can again make them look a little strange.

More special operators. MORE!
They have great potential for many scenarios.

Lovely! I do like them very much, and its very cool to see Russian Spec Ops types using heavily modified weaponry, as opposed to the usual set of Cold War malarky1  :-*

Any word on when the SAS will be rereleased?

I know and understand modern AKs very well (I actually instruct folks in AK rifles).  I just mean that with the camo patterns and sizing, they're not screaming AK to me, even in heavily modified form.  They look close enough, but I'd like to see the miniatures clean (sans paint).  It looks like you went the right way though, as most actual Spetsnaz don't use the Russian produced stuff, but use a lot of US kit on their rifles.

Front sight posts are missing (or modeled too short) on the AKSUs, but that's not a huge deal.  I'd have liked to see a few proper 7.62 AKs as well (special forces being some of the only units still using them, you see plenty of them mixed in with the 74's).  Overall nice job.
