Leaning towards the new version, personally. I also love Long War! That may play into my conversion, but I'm wary of biting off more than I can chew.

I was mainly commenting about it in order to basically suggest picking one or the other (at least at the beginning) and building around that. The new one also has a comparison system due to the multiplayer setup that could work for balancing that could be used.

Also the Reaper IMEF are quite close in appearance to the X-Com troopers save for the Sniper, though it could still work, but you have a workable Mech as well.

Their Gray Aliens [Namely the bones ones and perhaps some of the metal I-3 sets as metal 4 is very different] and they have a flying saucer and some scifi scatter terrain that would work rather well.

Here's my technological progressions for the X-Com troopers:

I was thinking of using THW rules as they are great to play solo and to represent the Aliens movement in the table, but never got to adapt the PC aliens to the THW system.

I too have signed up for the new battle systems terrain

Other really useful models on my painting table are the Anvil Industry Tractor units as SHIVS
and for Mec Troopers I will be converting Kryomek Talis units.

That's a great idea using those Project Nemesis guys. I have the US, Chines and Russian solders from Empress already. So they will work great as cannon fodder/NPC/VIPs or compromised government forces for my Agents to go against. Now I need a big supplies of civilians.

I was looking at THW as well, primarily for the solo aspect. 1d4Chan also has some XCom mods for Tomorrow's War, but I've heard horror stories on the complexity of that set. I may check it out all the same. I also thought Savage Worlds Showdown might be a pretty good fit.

Steve,

of the ones you posted I like the Heavy Gear mods as well.

I was leaning towards Mantic's Deadzone / Warpath Striders:

Mostly because I like the model, though it's not the best fit.

Pig Iron also has Wardroids that could fit the bill, especially if you do a head swap:

I'm also looking through the Relic Knights range now... I have a feeling I may be able to find something. I'll edit it in if I do.

They remind me of Space Marines.

Have you tried Crossover Miniatures Figures?  A few months back did a Alien Invasion Kickstarter.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/211492152/ufo-squad-alien-invasion-minis-and-skirmish-rules.

The figures are not showing on his site but I believe they are available.

Crossover miniatures are nice in hand.  The pictures on the Kickstarter really don't do them justice.

I don't know much about Xcomm, but would these work from Zombiesmith?
