@Maxxev - I've done that before (for others). I'll be honest, unless it's for a fixed-cam game, I find it ends up being more distracting than useful. You have to make the box so small so it isn't taking up too much of the screen that the pips end up being the same size regardless.

@ Grey Panda - They're home made. Just a 1" craft punch, 30mm beveled edge bases and a bead of Polystyrene cement to seal the edges of the textured plasticard.

All life is an experiment.
The more experiments you make, the better.

Ahh...I've admired them many times and I had no idea if they were sold like that or what. I really think they stand out (unintended pun) especially with the snow applied. Thanks for sharing Ash.  :)

No sweat fellas; super easy to make. My only problem now is I'm perpetually running out of card!

Is the card readily available? Michael's or online? I'm very tempted to redo my collection but not if its a pain to acquire the card.

BTW the latest vid is up to the usual brilliant standards!

Any model train supplier will carry it. You want cobblestone or random stone 1mm textured card. Plastruct is usually the manufacturer. Michaels won't carry it but you're sure to find it at a high-end train store or anywhere that carries architectural modelling supplies. :)

EDIT: Micromark has you covered for all kinds of sheets.

Brilliant! In that case I know of a railway model place in Edmonton that will surely have it! Many thanks

No sweat! Michaels will sell you the 1" craft punch. It's in their scrapbooking section. I use that for 30mm bases. I use a 3/4" punch for 25mm bases.

Thanks for sharing how you did the bases, it's given me all sorts of ideas! I've got to agree with the other posters, these are some of the best battle report videos I've seen, they're great fun. I ended up watching all the Mordheim ones, and I don't even play Mordheim!

Here's to hoping that Frostgrave videos never stop!

Also, has anyone tried the 1" punched card in a round lipped Malifaux style base? Does it fit well?

This is the reason I bought mine a good few years ago, to do custom Warmachine bases. However, you will need a slightly smaller punch - 23mm or such - if you want it to fit in the lip and not over it. This is because the base is 30mm diameter on the bottom, but the bevels reduce this by 3-4mm all round (so top diameter = 30mm-(4mm x2) = 22mm).

Incidentally, the common 25mm "slotta base" also has a 22-23mm diameter top as well, because despite being smaller overall, the bevel is a much steeper gradient.

Example 22mm punch here. :)

Nice one Ash :) .  It's sounds like I need to get one of those punches.  I have a compass blade that does the job but it's such a hassle with the dull blade (Micheal's doesn't stock replacements for the product  :'() that I've never had a problem with running out of cobbled styrene.  The compass blade's diameter can be adjusted to cut stock for any size base so it still has some utility in spite of it's limitations.

I keep a variety of punches around for making tokens, bases, whatnot. Say what you will about Martha Stewart, her scrapbooking section can be raided to good effect. ;)

Didn't post these here yet, but here's some bits and pieces for our upcoming series on Thaw of the Lich Lord! :D No Spoilers! BRING OUT YER DEAD!

Using some classic Mordheim miniatures as Cultists and an Evil Wizard. :)
