Run away from Livonia IV : a 40kv2/ChainReaction solo
« on: 15 October 2015, 04:08:26 PM »
I have played the escape of some Imperial Guard elements from a chaos invasion with 2nd edition of Warhammer 40 000 and some Chain Reaction rules.

You can read the AAR on my blog (in french) here :

With Google trad in english :

That's one crazy battle report.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Looks like a brilliant game!

How did you find the Chain Reaction rules you used?  You used the PEFs, anything else?  The game is a big favourite of mine and it's always good to see someone steal from it :)

Thanks, it was fun and took all the afternoon.
I used activation, PEF (mouvement), some reaction tables (in sight, received fire) and NP mouvement (from NUTS).
I gave Rep 5 for space marines and leaders, 4 for the guards and 3 for the cultists.
I play often with 2HW games (Nuts, ATZ, Swordplay, Adventures in the lost lands) and I own 5150 star army, but you can't find all the wealth and specifics of 40k universe in it.

Thanks ollv, good to hear you're using the THW games.

I agree about 40k - the universe is so rich, but big enough for you to make your own stories.

I'll say again - great game!

Well done once again.
By the way, when's the next Toungar adventure?

Only recently delved into the THW rules, but I have had the thought myself, that the reaction system could easily be used with other rulesets, using the weapon/armour/combat stats from a specific setting/universe for resolving combat, to preserve the uniqueness of said setting.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Funny you asked because I just play another Toungar adventure last week. I am writing the AAR which will come soon...  ;)

Really interesting batrep, full of action and surprises !

I like the way you take the solo and reaction mechanics, and blend it in another ruleset. It's motivating for my own projects of playing old games like chronopia or warzone v1 solo !
