Which figures did you end up investing in?

I went for a mix of Galloping Major (Canadian Militia, Mohawk, British Provincials) and Redoubt (Rangers, British Regulars, and Huron). As you know their ranges are very compatable.   I might add a few Conquest and Northstar indians once I find out how they look alongside the others.  Any one got some comparison pictures?

I will be starting the figure painting soon - I just undercoated them.

The Conquest indians (also now sold by Warlord) are a fair bit smaller than the Redoubt and Galloping Major ranges. Not really a good fit, although very nice little figures.

Thanks.  The rail fencing is quite simple to make and I think more in keeping with the period than snake fencing.

Thnaks for the info regarding the Conquest indians. It seems that they are too slight to fit in with the Galloping Major/Redoubt figures.  I shall have to look into the Northstar range.

More trees are on their way.  In the meantime I have been playing around with some cornfields.  Inspired by Jimbibbly and Malamute in this thread http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=81777.0   I wanted to see if I could get the figures inside the cornfields without damaging the terrain.  Here is my attempt.

Firstly I got Martin and Diane at Warbases to make me up some bases with a lift out section.  Here is one of the three they made me.



And with the lift out section.  The pen markings are mine to get the idea of the surrounding fence.



Next I drilled out all the holes for the corn and built the surrounding fence.  I have given this a coat of black primer.



Next a little paint job on the base and fence



Then I added a little colour to the bases with some grass tufts and a small tree.



Then I added the corn stalks (bought from JTT)



And here you can see the lift out section has been removed and some undercoated figures lurking amidst the corn.



Next some figures.

How about just a light dusting of flock around the bases of some of the stalks to break up the brown?
Stray bits of grass seed etc.
