I would say that, we've got several words for it in industry (plastic shit being one of them  lol )

Sounds much more appropriate.

But some of you can do some amazing things with that plastic shit, especially in these GOT threads.

Looking good thanks for sharing

 lol lol lol

I use a few more:

* XPS: Extruded Polystyrene, pink/blue/peach foam
* EPS: Expanded Polystyrene, 'frigolit', white crumbly foam, a right fucking nuisance and hazard to the envisonment

Yes, i see a lot of mention of 'HIPS' all of a sudden. Clearly the wargaming jargon de jour  ;)

Almost necessary now that 'plastic', to the average 28mm gamer, can mean bendy PVC, hard PVC, restic, spincast resin, trollcast... did I miss any? ;D

Luverly board. I want to see a mammoth running across it.

If you say so :)
(I'm inclined to think it's just that wargamers are suckers for techie-sounding jargon that makes them sound a bit cleverer than the next fellow... ;))

I have a mammoth you can borrow, Steve.

Thanks chaps  :D

Regarding the board, I have another project on the go that will add some woodland stands, for a bit more variation.

If you say so :)

You are so cynical Richard!  ;)  lol

Yep you have a really nice mammoth! Will it be entering into your own GOT forces? I quite like the idea of cavalry versus mammoth combat.

My LAF Gallery is HERE
Minis (foot & mounted) finished in 2025 = 74
(2024 = 38; 2023 = 151; 2022 = 204; 2021 = 123; 2020 = ???)

'Experienced' is the word you're looking for, Steve :D

I actually hadn't thought of using my cave wars mammoth for GoT but yes, I suppose I could. Trouble is, then I'd have to build a load of Wildlings and some ginats - neither of which grab me. As you can imagine, I am far more attracted by the Machiavellian and pseudo-medieval aspects of GoT rather than by the out-and-out fantasy elements  :)

Forgot to mention, half way through assembling the Nights Watch and it occurred to me that I have enough parts for a sixth faction..... The Faith Militant.

This will be the Faith Militant from the TV, so all heavy robes, chains and clubs. A fearsomely narrow-minded and determined bunch of zealots, they'll be in The North to convert the heathens to the true faith and redeem others who have wandered from the righteous path.

The bulk of the parts will come from the Frostgrave Cultists set.

Perhaps check out the GW Flagellants Steve? You can buy the components separately from resellers of 'bitz' (yes, really) including wailing hairy heads. Perfect for the High Sparrow's boys...  :)

Yeah I understand all that : GOT certainly gives the opportunity to play around with medieval characterisation without being completely constrained by history.

Personally I'm less interested in the Royal/lordly/knightly characters and more so in the grunts. My GOT project is therefore kind of a parallel to rather than part of the TV series.

Anyways, thanks for the tip re heads Richard but I've already assembled the 14 of the Faith Militant!  :D. Still got the GS to do but maybe a pic later.

Games of the North: 6/3 - Faith Militant wip (GoT)

The bulk of the parts will come from the Frostgrave Cultists set.

The unit of Faith Militant assembled from parts. The next stage for them will be GS and clean up, for example to add hoods and smooth out the robes.

As well as the cultists parts, there are also bits by Perry WotR/HYW and from the Warlord ECW sprue.  Weapons are all for beating and crushing, ostensibly to bring sinners into line.

One mini, an equivalent to a standard bearer for more conventional units, has a bell (still wip): SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.....
