Terrain WIP Finished

This is a silly little piece that just grew and grew until it turned into what you see here.
It could be right at home in North America or perhaps Middle Earth.
I can see Elves here. Or Hurons.

What's the dead tree made from?

What's the dead tree made from?

Oh, sorry to take so long to reply. The dead tree is a sagebrush armature from Scenic Express.

Beautifully rendered. The dead "sage" tree looks very good. Did you have to do any weathering or painting on that one? The seamoss trees look also very good. Do you treat them before you use them for your pieces? The general mixture of long grass, flowers, different soil textures etc. really makes the piece stand out and results in superior realism. I would also liek to see it with a 15mm and 28mm miniature for scale.

Hi,  To answer your questions:
The sage "tree" was sprayed with a mixture of black India ink and isopropol Alcohol. This turns the "tree" that nice grayish color.

The "SuperTrees" were soaked in a solution of Matte Medium and hung upside down to dry on a clothesline, outdoors.
They were then sprayed with a spray glue and the "leaves" applied.
After that dried, I sprayed everything with Testors Dulcote to lock everything in.

Foliage is such a difficult thing to get right, and you have certaiy managed it! These look great. Are you happy with how durable they are? I've always found thad good looking plants like these can be a bit delicate.

Thank you for your reply. I do pretty much the same, I was just wondering if you use other products as well. It does help quite a bit with flexibility of the plant material. I also had good experiences with Plastidip, a rubberizing spray. Still, if the terrain piece falls off the table it will be affected, but I would say that is true for 99 percent of terrain.
