Abyssinian Armoured Field Force
« on: November 19, 2015, 08:09:06 PM »
Gents,

Here is a rather nice Copplestone Mk III medium tank to be used in The Abyssinian Crisis…inspected by the emperor himself!

The role of the Abyssinian Armoured Field Force is the one ‘hypothetical’ formations we allowed in the project to involve a bit of fun with the use of interwar armoured vehicles. There are various types represented but the Mk III, along with the Vickers Independent, are the ‘heavy hitters’ in Haile Selassie’s ‘armoured corps'.

You can read about the Abyssinian Armoured Field Force (AAFF) at the The Abyssinian Crisis blog spot.

Great article! I like how the Japanese are helping to stop European Aggression in Africa with their donations.  :D

Hahaha, very nice. Love the motley assortment of cast-off armour.

..the Japanese always looking to help ;D

Off course this allows a player to acquire all sorts of nice models for his Ethiopian force, none nicer than these tanks just released..

I'm afraid 'stopping European aggression' also translates as 'elbowing-in on African trade'. If the Italians took over Ethiopia, Japan would lose a valuable market for its (non-military) goods.

I have to admit that the 'Japanese Angle' was quite unexpected when we were researching this... as indeed was a lot of the stuff truth told. Plus, as Rolf's post shows, Japanese armour of the time has 'the look' for the time too.

Interesting stuff. I'm starting to get impatient for the lists--if nothing else so I can get my Christmas shopping (for myself!) done!

What is that color for the tank? It looks almost...turquoise!  ;)

Colour is much greener than the pic...probably the lighting. it's a nice Interwar British Green suitably washed out...

I'm awaiting a response from TFL Rich regards some timings on the list release so hassle him if you keen to move it along  ;D

Seriously, they are looking very interesting with many unique forces that we, once again, didn't anticipate would be in the mix...lots to choose from!!

..next army description will be the British Army then finally the French...

Cheers

Oh, no worries; I'll do the same as before $15 at staples. Worked great!
