Thanks for all the help guys. Lots of great stuff here, especially that PC game cuprum put up. Never heard of that one and had never considered a Soviet airborne assault on Seattle. Just watching that video got my blood boiling and ready for a brawl-- on the table top of course.  >:(

While it's a heavier read than most need...perhaps pick up General Sir John Hackett's "Third World War"?  It's a spookily realistic "what could have been" set in 1985 (the one which books like Team Yankee, etc. were based in/around).  It'll give you an excellent setting, though if you're looking for small skirmishes it may be a bit too broad and sweeping.
