(COMMERCIAL) Askari miniatures...UK or European stockist?
« on: 27 November 2015, 04:21:38 PM »
Just been looking at some of the Askari Pathan figures but $27 shipping for a $30 figure pack is outrageous.....makes buying Foundry figures seem cheap!

Anyone know of a stockist in UK or Europe for Askari ranges?

Weird, I was just looking at these too. I came to the same conclusion about the outrageous shipping. I might wait until I go to the US in May and have them posted to friends or family in the US and bring them home in the suitcase.
Alternatively, these look like a bargain and would do the same job:

The musket blokes look fine to me.

Or have a look at the irregular musket men in the Old Glory Indian Mutiny range - 30 figures for £24. I've got a lot of their other figures from the range and they are really nice.

Thanks Jon, I have the OG figures (and Foundry and Studio) they are all good and mix well, just looking for extra poses/variety.
Have my eye on some of the Indus Baluchi and Westfalia Afghans too.

Will take a look at the Tiger range, see how they compare in bulk to the others.

I bought some of the Irregular ones as well I think they are £72 for 100 plus shipping. They aren't bad. I wish someone would make resin/metal muskets to stick onto the Gripping Beast Arabs. You could also look at the Minifigs ones, I've got twenty or so to bulk things out. I've also used the Perry plastic Sudanese, not sure you get quite enough muskets for everyone.

The Arabs are a good idea for Baluchi. Shame they are not included in the GB sale.
I use the spare musket from the Wargames Factory WSS Infantry for my Ashantee conversions. As far as I can tell no-one ever used them with the figures so there are plenty of bit spares around.

US shipping is horrific - even to Canada.

I'd love to see what they look like. I did a lot of conversions for my Greeks using the Warlord bodies and spare sets of Wargames Factory arms and weapons, the head sizes are a bit off though.

I got quoted $34.95 postage on top of a $14.00 pack of six figures.

Bloody hell  :o

As far as I am concerned American suppliers have priced themselves out of consideration with scams like these.  I have reached the stage that I will not buy or trade from USA any more.

I found another one looking for a single $1.99 Viking Forge fantasy figure....$23 shipping.
