Full Thrustiness
« on: 12 December 2015, 10:38:15 AM »
So, what's the deal with Full Thrust?

I've been getting into it, recently, and as far as I can tell the latest official version is v2 from the '90s. But there are semi-official fan-works like Cross Dimensions and Continuum.

I've been basing my game on Cross Dimensions, but istm there are modern ship designs (esp. the one from the GZG Light rules freebie) which don't quite fit these rules (they have two engine icons). So I'm wondering if they are based on other available rules.

I'm also curious as to what version people are generally playing. Is there a standard version, or does everyone play different versions with numerous house-rules? Is there any sort of consensus?

And what are you doing with your Full Thrust?

Most people speak of the changes in the Fleet Books as FT 2.5.

Much of the XD, Hugh's blessing, has been incorporated into the Project Continuum, which is probably on fast track for FT 3. Nothing for sure, but Jon has been making comments about a 3rd edition released in 2016.

PC is still in shake down, so look at and make comments. I caught an issue that was kept from XD, and I gather there's major discussion of same.

When I can get a game, I've been Real Life'd into not playing much of anything, I mostly do 2.5, with occasional twiddling, but I'm a curmudgeon. ;->=

It's still my favorite space game, and I'm a vacchead at heart.

Doug

Edit: Of course, the fleet books also introduced an alternate movement system, referred to as 'Vector'. Not what I'd call 2.5, but some people love it.

I can't speak to compatibility and we don't play often, but when we do, it's cross dimensions.

Same. Reminds me I haven't played for a long time. Holidays will fix that!

Brilliant!

But where's the cries of disbelief of misjudged plots? The growls at unfair dice? We want a real AAR!  lol

Only reason I don't wish I was there is I've no longer the knees to play on the floor.

Oh, heck, I'll get a mechanics creeper; I'll be right over.  ;D

I have a pair of intro fleets plus extras comming in from the x-mas sale (thanks Doug) so I might actually get round to playing some FT, starmada and colonial fleet in the near future, if only the post would hurry that package along.
