Help identifying some miniatures please
« on: January 06, 2016, 09:28:33 PM »
Hi,
I'm new to the forum - signed up today to post this question, but will have other similar ones soon I'm sure.

I was up in my parents loft and found my dads collection of miniatures, mainly Citadel from the late 80's to early 90's. I have 4 (I assume) dwarf miniatures that I've been unable to identify so far - I've tried "leafing through" the 'Stuff of Legends' collection of scanned citadel catalogues, but can't find them where I'd expect to.

They have been sprayed grey and feel like they're metal.

Thanks for your help. My dad has loads of other miniatures that I'm now sorting through, most of which are fairly easy to identify, but these are giving me some trouble.

----- I've just noticed, while having another look, that the one standing with his hands clasped on the stick (2nd from left) has a fragmentation-grenade attached to his belt - which seems fairly anachronistic considering the hammers and cleaver...

They are indeed Citadel Chaos Dwarf, or maybe Marauder.
There are "normal" Chaos Warrior counterparts to these Dwarf.

There should be a thread on this forum where someone has painted up both versions, human and dwarfs, I think it was "Blue in vt".

although chaos dwarfs do not exist, and every reference is made up, a lie or simply a fairytale, try searching for them.  ;)

However, chaos dwarfs still don't exist

Ah fantastic! Thanks for the quick responses and information guys :)

When you say there are normal version of these - you mean there are 'regular' sized warriors with the same poses and armaments? Really interesting thanks, I'll see if dad bought any of those as well.

And as for prices, I had thought about resale value for some of the rarer minis (the reason I was in the loft is I've just started painting again and wondered what he had left over from his wargaming days that I could ) - does the value change for painted, sprayed and naked metal?

I've just checked ebay using the information you gave and they do seem to fetch quite a bit, certainly more than I was expecting, really makes me wonder what else he has up there - I know I've seen 4 of these:

amongst others.

Thanks again for the help, it's really appreciated.

Yes, that's what I ment.
They are not 100% the same, but similar.

What a brilliant thread, thanks, it's great to see the little guys next to their counterparts - and inspiring to see them painted as well - there are quite a few of the metallic paints left from when my dad used to paint, I use them regularly now and amazingly, despite not been used in 15+ years, they've stood the test of time well.
