Part 2     While on the bank, Indian fires and drop a Settler. The smoke shows he has fired.

Indians are about to reach the keelboat. Musket fire from the boat miss.

Indians on the boat, hand to hand fighting, things were not going well.

On the flatboat most everyone had made it back to the boat.

In hand to hand fighting one of the Indians has lost and falls into the river.

Part 4    The fight on the rear of the keelboat is decided. The Indians are defeated.

The Settlers are able to reload and fire into the Indians. This time they hit their mark.

The keelboat is able to be pushed away from the shore.

Indians on the bank fire hoping to kill, but the Settler's luck held.

Part 5     The fight was over. The Settlers kicked butt in the melee. That  was the turning point.
A couple of photos of the boats. Both were made by me. More for gaming not real historical.

The F&IW , a river and boats - wonderful !  It looks looks like an exciting game . The fog on the river is a good idea, both it and the smoke from the musket fire was well handled and brings the game to life. The boats are excellent gaming pieces .The game reads like a scene from a film and is believable .  Look forward to more posts .

Very nice work, and the boats are close enough to the real thing that no apologies are needed.

So, next up is Mike Fink and his river pirates versus Davy Crockett, right?  If not, you should read up and put it on your schedule.  You already have the boats!

Inspirational indeed! Thanks for the AAR. I know it's out of the time frame, but it looks like you could have the start of a Lewis and Clark style campaign game.

rumacara, Belisarius,
Thanks for the very nice comments, the smoke from the musket fire was used to show that the figure fired and needed to reload.

FifteensAway,
Yes, Mick Fink and river pirates would be an interesting and fun game. I have both movies with Fess Parker.

jimbibbly,
Glad you like the boats. I love the things you build.

Phil Robinson,
Thanks Phil, I have been trying different types of games to see how Drums and Tomahawks play.
I must say that I like playing them.

shandy, wolfkarl,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes, I do think rules could work for Lewis and Clark. I plan to use them in a small Retreat from Moscow 1812 game.

Wow...that is a great setup and idea for a scenario! I love it!!! The Indians coming out of the mist is perfect.

You definitely don't need to apologize for the keelboat and flatboat. Those are the type of gaming pieces that draw a crowd at a gaming convention and spur people to sign up for your game. They are great, and will doubtless inspire others to build one, too.

Can I post a link to your AAR on the First Command Wargames website? It'll make a great addition to the nearly 30 battle reports we have on there...

Congrats on the game...looks like a blast!
