Lord Etherington's Company

Lord Etherington's Company

(This is a Company that differs from others by having a fully named cast, each with their own stats - except those shooting pals. Some have already begun to develop their personalities and histories. The most notable of these is Polly the Maid, who went six rounds with Lord Curr himself)

Lord Etherington had read about the exploits of that bounder of an upstart, Lord Curr and his Company in the newspapers. He had been eating his breakfast at the time and the story made him quite dyspeptic. He decided that it could not be difficult to form  a company of his own and so has done so utilising his devoted staff, his longtime friends Doctor Johnson and Prof Pat Pending and some shooting pals, including Charlie and Archie.
Although Lord Etherington does not realise it, everyone actually looks to Belcher the Butler for firm leadership. Belcher says that he is simply interpreting his lordship's instructions. Belcher has trained up the domestic staff, particularly in shooting, and ensured their uniforms provide some protection. He has equipped them with guns from the cabinet and some of Cook's Sabatier knives; woe betide anyone who damages them. Cook says that Polly is too young to have a carving knife and so has given her a vegetable one. Those who followed Polly's exploits over the festive season will know that she is more than capable of looking after herself. The outside staff make more use of their existing skills and equipment and Johnson has dug out that old sword of his.
Simple Ernie is rumoured to be the love child of his lordship and Mad Margaret but, personally, I don't hold with all this gossip. After all, half the village looks like his lordship - goodness, what am I saying? Still, at least Lady Connie will be safe, what with Mellors the gamekeeper being so good at looking after her and teaching her to shoot. My, the hours those two spend together discussing game.
Lord Etherington claims not to favour any of this newfangled equipment rubbish but Prof Pat can sometimes persuade him to take a monocular targeting array and Lady Connie is never without hers. It is also something of a surprise that his lordship makes no objection to Pat taking along his Articulated Running and Servicing Equipment, or Walker as some call it rather more prosaically. Although this "walker" is Pat's own invention it effectively operates like some of the commercially available models.

All those with lined coats can upgrade them to Brigandines
All those who are unarmoured can take a lined coat
Lord Etherington can take a Monocular Targeting Array
Prof Pat has been experimenting with armour on his Walker and can convert it to the equivalent of a Withall Mk II

The Company lined up for a photograph outside the church. Lady Connie and Doctor Johnson are currently on their way (from Ironclad) and Prof Pat has not yet been ordered.
Lady Connie took the likenesses. Lord Etherington felt they were not very clear but thought it impolitic to criticise. We have the shooting party, the domestics and the outside staff followed by a group portrait. Viewers of a timorous disposition may find the outside staff rather threatening but they were only obeying her ladyship's order to "look fierce".

Lord Curr would like to make it plain that he would never go six rounds with a chamber maid as he is a gentleman  :D

Lord Curr's protestations are noted but the official record does not lie ("First multi-player game as a Christmas special (an AAR of sorts) - take II"). There are too many eye-witnesses to get around this and the fact that he still has not dared show his face at his club for fear of the ridicule!

Oh the shame of it!

He is currently somewhere in the Ottoman Empire on a 'diplomatic' mission...
