Ooh, that's tasty. Is that Timeline's simple mdf kit? If so, you've done a great job on it!

Yes it is the basic kit from Timeline.  Used Pebble paper (Hobbycraft UK) glued to it them dry brushed.

Not a big fan of mdf myself but this is great example of using mdf as a 'dolly' and building something with character and depth.worth a second look on any table almost tempted to buy one myself. In fact the only way you could have made it any better is if you'd put all your hard work and thought on top of a photorealistic one.

Another MDF disliker here but, agree, you've done a nice job. 

So, MDF as cores for other projects?  Nah, too expensive for that.  I'll stick with resin or scratch building for now.  I worry about the durability of MDF - maybe when someone shows me one that's been rough handled for twenty years but still keeps on 'playing', well, maybe.

The trick with MDF is seal the edges.It reduces the feathering..
I'd better clear up my beef with mdf.Now its ideal for industrial and engineered items wrought iron bridges etc but organic shapes and structures,curves wooden buildings (western style buildings being the exception and then only a few manufacturers can claim to have got that right)Its the reverse for resin cast buildings(getting industrial shapes to come out by sculpting is very. Time consuming and involves alot of effort).
As for the use of mdf as dollies I've used a few for museum projects.its a trade off ,of time versus money.A dolly saves hours of measuring and cutting.MDF is just the latest wonder weapon to hit the hobby its not its just another tool to added to the list.

This is a really nice example of how to turn a blank canvas into art,and id be more than happy to be seen gaming with it.

Very nice job on that church. The paper idea is excellent.

My efforts with MDF are not so nice as this but, I have to say, that MDF is so much better than card and the bits and pieces (doors, windows, etc.) by companies like War Bases have speeded up my making of buildings a great deal.

As for durability, I have card buildings that have lasted 20 years, so MDF should last even longer. All of these are mounting card, the backs of old Christmas cards, and a few bits of balsa wood. They are all over 15 years old.
