Question about Bonnie price Charlie
« on: 22 January 2016, 04:38:41 PM »
I recently purchased a Front Rank figure of Charlie and was wondering what colours to paint him in. He seems to be wearing a fur trimmed coat. I think he wore a red coat at Culloden but can't find much info apart from posed portraits. Any suggestions please.

Is this image of any use?

I don't know if much is known about his actually coat colour at the battle. My personal choice would be something other than red to distinguish him against the Government troops.

There are tons of paintings of him online via Google Image searches. I would simply pick one you like and voila! You've done your research!!! Any button hole counters who argue that he may or may not have worn it at that particular battle you are gaming are simply being ridiculous.

Listen to some Tannahill Weavers while you paint him, too...that will make the experience that much more authentic! Ha, ha!  lol
