An experiment in sewers - Painted and pic heavy
« on: January 22, 2016, 11:25:35 PM »
So whilst having Malamute round yesterday for a terrain making session I showed him a little Georgian 300mm x 300mm board to house the terraces I've done and he said "Why not do some sewers".

A simple enough statement but unfortunately the muse descended and I came up with this.

You'll have to excuse the clear acrylic, it will become clearer when it's all got a coat of primer on it. Also, please bare in mind that this is a tester to see if it's a viable project so no smart arse comments about the sewers being the same level as the basements and emptying all the crap into the bottom of the terraces  ;)

The loose bricks at the join are just there to hide a nasty join that I fudged  ::)

It won't be for release, just a little side project, 2' x 2', if it even gets that far although looking on Google images for inspiration pictures it could go downwards quite a way  :)

cheers

James

That's neat, I like the use of clear acrylic. I'm looking foward to seeing where this goes...

A return to Gothic Horror??? Well well...

A great idea, wonderfully executed, as per usual.

Clever swine.

Why not paint the acrilic with tamyia smoke or something similar in order to see what goes underground while playing?

I dunno, it looks a bit rushed, some of those lines look a bit wonky.   :D ;D

Lovely indeed, Jim.  ;)

So when you say Malamute made the suggestion, did he also ask for the other utilities to be connected and an option to sub-let?  :P

The terrace house is a wonderful piece and the sewers look like a treat, a whole new level for gaming indeed  :D

Great stuff mate! :-* You do realise you're digging yourself a bigger hole by starting this? Sooner or later someone is going to ask you to build a full board of this stuff!......

.....so why don't you build a full board of sewers? ;)

The only minor point, for all the great aesthetics, is it going to be gameable? It would mean taking the upper level off every time you want to move models down there. :?

Lovely buildings James - please show more.  Methinks they provide the visual treat and it'd be such a shame to have to lift out road sections in front of them to play inside the sewers. To keep the gameplay from the sewers, could they just be kept to exposed and accessible edges?

A Georgian Square has been on my to-do list for years. I'm swooning.  :D

Niiiiiice!  :-* I like the concept. A lot.

Depending how far you go with the detail, will you include smaller inlets?

On another note, that's two potential Georgian build projects now; yourself and Silent Invader. I have to say I'm tempted too chaps.
Don't!

As if anyone would do that  ;)
