Imperial Assault and SW shenanigans
« on: January 24, 2016, 02:46:25 PM »
I've finally put my Imperial Assault minis on my workbench. 'Oh, great, yet another Imperial Assault thread' I hear you say. Ehhmm. Well, you're right, but I'll try to bring in some flavour to make this slightly different.

My first approach will be on the two iconic characters, Luke and Vader. Both minis are sweet, but I felt they both deserved some more cooliness. So, first thing I did was replace Luke's blaster with a lightsaber:

About the other mini... Darth Vader's pose wasn't quite imposing, at least for me. Not quite readable. But it had lots of potential. I just reposed torso, head and arms:

Then I just went for a quick painting:

So this is it for the moment.

You can find them here:

So let's see where this leads me...

Great reposing!!! I love what you did with Luke, and the Vader repose is far more menacing.

And there can't be enough Imperial Assault threads for my tastes.

Ooopsie! Lack of updates. I made some stuff but forgot to post  :(

Firstly, I painted the Imperial Officers and Imperial Guard. The Guards were impossible to convert, but I dared to do something with the Officers.

Just some arm and head repositioning, but enough to make them look different:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2016/02/stiff-hunchmen.html

After that, I got these WEG minis. Quite early in the Imperial Assault project to make a stop, but what can I say, they were looking at me tenderly.

Nothing special, but they were fun :)

My latest work here has been on the Bounty Hunters. Four exactly identical Trnadoshans? Four clones of a mini? Not on my watch!
I had some spare heads from a few WotC minis I am using for my Rogue Trader civilians project, so you can see my train of thought.

Once again, not that much complicattion, but it's enough to make them look different.

Still lot of stuff to do, I'll kep you updated :)

Are you tempted by the Imperial Assault stuff?  :D

Great job with the conversions Suber. The Imperial officers are very effective with just a few limb tweaks.

Thank you! :)

Haha, you read my mind, compatibility issues crossed my mind. WEG are kinda true 25mm, while Imperial Assault ones are more in the new way tending to 30-ish:

But I'm still thinking the way of making all this work. Somehow, there has to be a way...

More easy conversions again :P

I took my chances with the E-Web engineers. There are just two minis, so I left one untouched and converted the other one. The original model:

And the conversion:

I just dismembered the poor guy and repositioned all the joints. Not happy with that knee, but for the moment it will have to do.

Here you have them too:

I love your conversions, especially Luke and Vader. The best thing is that you actually tried to make Luke's saber look like a Graflex. Very well done!

Next step in this project are two presumably easy kind of minis. But of course I had to make this difficult... :?

The probe droids were suppose to be ultra-easy. I just had to paint them monochrome and that's all! I did so with one of them:

But I couldn't have three identical minis :-X. So I thought I could reposition the limbs. That would make them look menacing and dynamic, as if they were on the move, leaping on their prey... The results were somehow... unexpected ;D. I had the break dancer...

And the samba dancer ::)

The three drunken droids:

The other mini was the Nexu. A big block of plastic almost unable to convert. I finally found a solution so I could have two different minis:

So the untouched one...

...and the converted one:

The kittens:

You can find them here:

Let's see what comes next...

awesome conversions.
Good for you to differentiate between the identical models.
I considered it, but decided I'm to lazy.

I've been neglecting this thread for too long. Shame on me. I've (finally!) managed to have the whole core box finished.

A pal gave me away a second AT-ST, so I guess I'll need to make up some scenario for them ::)

I made a (very) quick paintjob on the Rebels, as I really wanted to see the end of the project. Rush is no good, but these will have to do for now.

I've left the Stormtroopers for the end, as I was having some trouble with having nine absolutely identical minis and didn't know how to face it. I got the expansion pack, so I had three more guys with another pose. These are the poses:

At least now I had different models to work with. Just a knife made all of them multi-component ;D. Then this is what I did:

All of them:

Sooo, I finally got the game in order:

http://oldschoolworkshop.blogspot.com.es/2016/09/storming-game.html

I still have some WotC and Knightmodels minis pending, but at least this gives me some sense of closure, which I really needed, phew. Now for some games!
