4Ground building doors & sub-basements
« on: January 28, 2016, 03:52:23 PM »
Hey gang,

Just started working on some 4Ground western buildings, absolutely loving them so far but I do have a question - are the opening doors on the ground and first floors of the main street buildings meant to be as loose as they are? I built them as per the instructions and they swing nicely and aren't about to fall out but they are VERY loose. Are they the same for all the rest of the buildings?

Also, the instructions say to not glue the sub-basement piece to the ground floor, why is that? In case you don't want to use the boardwalks or something? I'm seriously thinking about just gluing mine on as it a pain in the ass to pick the building up and leave that piece behind all the time lol. Does anyone else glue theirs?

My previous western buildings were all resin so this makes a refreshing change, especially to have access to the interiors - I'll definitely be buying more to expand my collection :)

Yeah, they are loose...and I've started gluing mine shut (mainly the doors to the exterior of the building, as they swing open and occasionally snag when I'm storing them in my bins.  I also glue all of my sub-structures to the buildings with no issue.  The only reason you might not is that some people build solid gaming boards and actually glue to sub-bases to the board, so they can "swap" buildings on/off.

That, or perhaps occasionally you don't want one on a sub-base?  Not sure.  Mine are all glued.

I glue all my sub basements on as well, never had any problems with my doors being too loose though.

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and glue it. The doors though I can't believe yours aren't loose as well, Burt - I assembled them exactly as per the instructions and they are just hanging there loosely. Hard to even get them to stay shut to be honest.

Some of my doors swing more freely than others, but it's never been an issue in game.
