A Rogue Traders Guards...
« on: 02 February 2016, 12:35:47 AM »

Rogue Trader Gelt's three bodyguards...

Castor, a Chardosian warrior with a perchant for taking the heads of his enemies, a trait from his feral world that still holds strong.
Kane, a hard bitten mercenary from the Tigran system, known for his use of a Flamer over other weapons.
Brutus, a Renegade Adeptus Astartes, seeking to redeem his soul in service to an agent of the Imperium... or at least that's what he says...

Excellently painted! It's great to see these old figures get some love. You've managed to combine the old school charm and colours with a more modern "grittiness" and sense of threat, love it.

Since I only entered in 2nd edition, where the RT stuff was still showing up in WD but was being eradicated slowly - what was the story behind the non-Marine...Marines?  Or was power armor just power armor and anyone could buy it/steal it/wear it?  Or were these figures some kind of weird chapter?

I've seen these kinds of figures before, what's the fluff behind them?

The models are marines but basically yeah, anyone can wear a power armour in Rogue Trader. In confrontation (Necromunda's ancestor) you can even earn pieces of a suite one by one until you get the power pack that transforms a bunch of plasteel protections into a real power armour. Amongst RT models, you get orcs, techpriests, female adventurers and many more wearing it.

Love Them.
I had 5 marines earmarked for mercenaries but ended up using them as headquarters troops for my sons of horus

That was always one of my fav illustrations from the book. You've done a great job of capturing the spirit of them. That chechick looks spot on.

I've always thought of the two in the pic as renegade marines. Remember when RT was released, there was no chaos in it for a long time, the idea of the chaos renegades wasn't introduced till WD 99 or something like that.
These guys are good old fashioned rebel scum :D
