Latest project: Reaper Alien Invasion Force

Mostly rebased Bones plastics, with the exception of Professor Kraken in his natty suit.  I've painted these in metal as well, the detail carries through nicely into the softer material and the bigger models are going to have a lot less trouble with breakage and transport issues.  Awful lot cheaper too.

When I read the thread title, I thought grey aliens. These are a whole lot more disturbing! Great paint jobs.

Reaper calls them "Kulathi" on their store:

Good example of the price differential between Bones and metal there, and the bigger models have an even greater disparity.  Honestly surprised you don't see the Centurion/Primarch/Exarch figs used as 40K Tyranid proxies more often.

Thanks.  Fun to paint, too.

I like these a lot, I bet my buddy would be all over these for a Cthulu-grave warband.

Nice job on those. And yes, I've wondered why they aren't proxied for Nids more often.

Thanks, I may try some more Bones stuff if the current crop sells on ebay (see http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=87613.0 for more on that).  The stuff isn't great for some sculpts, but if you're careful to cherry pick what you're working on it seems like an economical (and lightweight) alternative to increasingly expensive metals.

What is the Reaper name for those big monsters?
from Mr.Vampire: "It's the paintjob that makes the miniature fight harder not the size."

Left to right in the first image, those are the Bathalian Centurion, Primarch, and Exarch.

And yes, you could do arm and head swaps between the various bodies without too much work.  Bones is very easy to convert.

Very cool.
I think Reaper really successfully melded the cthulu and xenomorph styles in these and your paintjob looks great.

I'm kind of fond of the Bathalian Drone, the Darkspawn Cultist and Minion, and the Hound of Tindalos (even if the latter isn't very true to the Mythos original) as well.  Unfortunately they're all in metal only, and given that the much cheaper Bones stuff isn't selling at the current pricing I can't see doing a crop of them for ebay anytime soon.  Have to charge (for ex) $25+ for the drone to be worth doing, and no one's going to pay that kind of money.

These are awesome! Might steal the idea as these will make ideal alien opponents for my Anvil Industry human infantry. I have a load of resin alien eggs to make scenery with, and have been after some beastly aliens to go with them! Amazing work! :)

The bigger Bathalians have been big sellers for me both on ebay and by commission, but at this point I'm getting kind of burned out on them.  Painted more than 40 of them at this point, time to do something else for a while.

The smaller Kolothians are a fresher subject for me, and I may revisit them again, maybe with some not-Intellect Devourers (seen here menacing poor little Sorscha from the Iron Kingdoms) as xeno-warhound type critters.
