You must have a fair collection of these wee beasties?......or are they all commissions and sent away to happy new owners? What I'm angling for is a group pic of them all.....if possible!

I wish, just like a mechanic who's car is always the one needing work I don't have a collection of anything really, just half finished bits and pieces. Had a clean out of our 20mm a few years back (which was our favourite period and scale) as most of our stuff was 20-30 yrs old or more and falling apart. Of course it hasn't been replaced properly and don't have enough painted for even a small game now.

So yup, the Vickers and almost everything I post in groups is for other people. I had a rough count up the other day and I reckon I've just topped 700 vehicles (tanks, softskins and guns) since I started painting for others roughly 9 years ago.

My Project '46 guys below are the biggest group of anything that I own that I'd consider finished to the same level as the stuff I've been doing for others and they're not useable units but a collection of individual vehicles ....  I do however have plenty of group shots of finished commissions though so if you like I could post the odd one up occasionally, just to keep interest up :)

cheers
Brent

Thanks guys.  And yeah, no reason why it wouldn't have been rushed into production in an alt history timeline. It's not like the British didn't have experience with the Deerhound and Boarhound, so the chassis isn't out of the question. Got a few half built Saracen based conversions too, an open topped mortar carrier and RCL AT version. It's probably no different than using Centurion Mk1-IIIs, which I would have too if the Cromwell ones were actually purchasable ....

And todays progress, the Perry Dingo.

Thanks Tom .......

Currently finishing off the Perry AT Portee but these guys here have all the final detailing completed and are wrapped up and done. The camera died so all I got was these couple of shots and will take some more later.

cheers

Having said all of that I'd love to try more off the shelf stuff to get more consistency and repeatability but I'd need one of the fancy companies to "sponsor" me ....  hence the el-cheapo alternatives.

cheers

These are beauts all of them. I like the way you really scrape the bottom of your supplues. Very progressive thinkng.

While MIGs powders are nice it is cheaper to get dry (not oil) pastel crayons from a well stocked art supply store. Tve best stores sell them by  the crayon, or you can do what I did and get a box of 40 nuances which will last you a lifetime. I prefer crayons to powders as you dont have to worry about tipping them over. A few rubs with the crayons over fine sand paper gives you just the amount you need.

Yup, great alternatives too! I've got a ton of surplus artists chalks that work well also. Truth is the MIGs I have are close to 10yrs old and I'm only just getting to the bottom of the most used colour now. I find I'm using the crushed Humbrols mostly as the tend to be the most stable under varnish) and add other things to them .........
