15mm Moongrunt - Painted 6mm test 6/9/16
« on: February 19, 2016, 12:10:15 AM »
Hi All,

I've been heavily inspired by GZG's latest Moongrunt releases as of late, so much so that's it's kick me into a really focussed project, which make a nice change!

My setting will be slightly less near-future than the GZG mini's - but I'll be painting and converting a whole selection of vacc-suited corporate space troops to fight on hostile planets.

For now, here's the first WIP pics of a survey delegation from the NuCor Terraforming Company:

more rambling (but nor more pics I'm afraid) on the blog.

Off to a good start!
On the topic, I recommend the 'Stark's War' novels for a view of Lunar combat, the GZG minis are perfect for it, but I would have seen the UNSC minis as perfect for the US troops in the novels.

Cheers Cypher,

I'll take a look - been rereading all the Iain M Banks Culture novels so I could do with a break from them.

Hopefully I'll have a bigger update on Sunday.

A bit more done on the Moongrunt project - a group of GZG UNSC with added packs from the US Moongrunt pack.

The detail is pretty tricky on these - I'd like to do another set where the last stage is a galze/wash, which should bring the detail out more clearly. I'm going to regloss the visors too.

Those have come out a treat, I did mine in a drab/brown scheme with washes ( http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=71705.msg1071256#msg1071256 ) but I think I prefer your green scheme.  The back packs add extra interest too.

Cheers - yours are great. Did you end the painting with a wash? I'm normally OK at picking out detail but the detail on these is quite shallow and I found my usual painting style lost me a few of the leg greaves.

I'm avoiding drab for this whole project ideally - half the reason I wanted to do it is an excuse to crack out the purples, teals, and blues.

I'm chuffed with the conversion itself:

Now then, would you gentlemen be interested in writing an article or scenario about your Moongrunt project?

We really want to feature some GZG stuff in the magazine but are struggling top find someone to put fingers to keyboard.

If you are interested, contact letters@wargames illustrated.net.

Yes, did two washes, one over a base coat and then a final one to blend the overall paint job.

I love the simple conversion  :D

The painting even more so  :-* :-* :-*

Keep sharing your 15mm scifi as it makes me want to paint up mine.

Wow, thanks!!

I'll be honest - not worked on any of the massive MOONGRUNT order I made for a while, much to my shame! I should really put some back in the queue.
