Scratchbuilt Andalusians
« on: February 21, 2016, 06:07:23 PM »
With the mountain of plastic bits I have I decided to make some Andalusians for EL Cid WAB gaming, specifically the later period list. The bits came mostly from Conquest Mtd Norman Knights & Inf, GB Arab foot, GB Arab Heavy Cav, FF Sargeants, FF Tempar knights. I've a few more cav to do but the inf block is finished. Missing shields/shield arms will go on after I've done the painting as  they wore fancy patterned clothing & my attempts at rendering this will be more hopeless than usual with shields blocking access to torsos. arms etc.

I'll post up some more pix once they're painted.

Inspirational. I will be stealing all those ideas shortly, particularly mixing the cavalry bodies with the infantry legs.

Awesome work. I also converted my Andalusians out of plastics,  mostly the Conquest Norman Knights and infantry as they are a 11th C. Taifa kingdom force.

Some very creative conversions here. I also like the mixing of legs and torsos. Some nice green stuff sculpting too. I particularly like the waist sashes. It is often quite tricky to render softer fabrics like silks. Well done sirrah! I look forward to seeing them painted.

I've had quite a lot of distractions so its going quite slowly but here are the first few painted, banners still to be sourced. The patterning on the cloth is a bit repetative but I've been experimenting with patterns so the next lot should add some variation.
