Tipoo Sultan
« on: February 22, 2016, 01:34:38 PM »
Did anything ever happen after the announcement back in 2014 that Northstar were going to do a company set for the Tipoo Sultan?

Not being a user of or having access to Facebook, I had rather forgotten all about the issue

Please excuse me if I've missed an announcement somewhere!

I never found the time, I'm very sorry to say. When I did that survey we were riding high with In Her Majesty's Name, but then we got involved with one game after another and Frostgrave came along.

We only have a finite amount of design time, and other things called.

My apologies to those who were looking forward to that set, but I have to say I don't think we'll have time to do the Tipoo Sultan. Hopefully another company will take up the challenge.

I wonder if Copper Mine Minis, purveyors of fine Steam Horses might want to bankrupt themselves making a Brass Elephant and clockwork tigers?

I'll ask Richard  :D

Although we aren't adding to IHMN right now, Mike Owen is with his FOG range. I must ask you to contribute an army list for his new Whitehall Specials and Sailors on Mars sets Craig.

Hurrah.

I'll send you samples of the sailors so you can draft something for them.

Spoke to Mr Wise about this at Hammerhead today, I had missed this thread. I said I was willing to set up and do something but that personnel finances, will not allow for it at the moment. I am heavily committed with my current project Cog Division. I would also be concerned about copyright issues with Osprey and Northstar, as well as stepping on toes again.

Let's set this straight. Osprey do not own the copyright to IHMN nor any of the concepts we created. The copyright remains Charles and mine. They have the licence to print, publish, promote and sell IHMN, HVF & SDRS, nothing more.

Nick has already declared below that Northstar have neither the time nor the inclination to take on this project.

If, when you have made enough money from Cog Division, you choose to approach these ideas as well you will have the support of the Ministry of Gentlemanly Warfare. We may do a few simple name changes but everyone in the IHMN world will know what they are.

Hi Craig that all seems fine, but as you know I had issues with them last time. I will do some number crunching and may come back here and facebook group with an offer.

I would certainly be interested with a Clockwork Tiger

And I the elephant. I'm still deciding/iffy on the Cogs.

Oh, and Richard? Not reading the grandson particularly on the subject, but his mother was thrilled by his being a gaming figure.  Even, a crazed galoot. :D

Well, I'm definitely in.

I might even have been tempted to help with the finance, were it not for the wife deciding we needed a new kitchen instead!

One suggestion I would make, which I probably have before, is to aim for a broader market. For example I could easily see steam tigers/elephants making their appearance on a Kings of War table as constructs... or even a post-apocalyptic fantasy world as well as traditional steampunk/weirdpunk...

After buying ten steam horses, I hope to have them make their debut at Triples as the Wild West Show/League of Southern Gentlemen...
