Alright, here's the next model on the painting table, the axe wielding arm was taken from the Light Cavalry boxed set, from an archer model, I clipped off the bow and drilled out the hand. The axe is from Gripping Beasts Russian Weapons pack. It's obviously a double handed weapon, so due to the weight of it, I positioned the arm in a downwards gesture, whilst his left arm is taken from the WotR command sprue and is pointing perhaps at some nasty Lannisters whom will soon be facing that axe......

The axe is probably on the large side, scale wise, as Perry Miniatures are so finely crafted!

Later, I'll be sculpting the fur trims and cloak.

Cheers

That is a brilliant pose. Suitably imposing with the helmet and axe.

Thanks!

It's my favourite helmet, very menacing! I will scatter axe armed troops across the force as it grows as the weapon is the sigil of House Cerwyn.

Nice!

Has the axe been glued? I cant help thinking it would look more natural if he was holding it closer to the head. Would be the more comfortable way to hold such a big axe with one hand, its clearly gonna be wielded two handed in combat. Just a thought!

Hi Charlie

No, not glued yet as I too was unsure of how it should be held, could be mid motion as it is, just before it hits the ground as he lowers hi arm or as you suggested if he is marching whilst holding it one handed, then yes, closer to the head would be suitable, I'll try that later and pop another picture up.

Cheers

lol lol

We all have favourite Perry helmets... Mine is actually the other barbute from the Mercs command frame - the one with the straight-across-the-eyes opening. But I do like this one too  :)

They are awesome! Can't wait to see the leader type painted up.

Here he is.....

Some crude pics via my iPhone just to show you the (slow.....) progression being made  lol

6 models have been completed and I'm in the midst of completing the bases, the axe wielder's base is finished, being decorated with modelling snow and leaves.

The pics are very grainy so once all the bases are completed I'll take pics using my 'proper' camera! Anyway, I hope you like the small update!

Cheers

Excellent work on those bases and great project all round. I love the wood effect on the pike shafts.
Thanks
