Kosciuszko Uprising at CincyCon
« on: 07 March 2016, 01:51:28 PM »
I ran a game of the Battle of Chelm at CincyCon on Friday afternoon.

There were four players, two taking the Russians and the Prussians and two on the side of national independence and freedom.

Here were the Poles trying to defend their position while they prepared to move out and save their supplies and their army to fight again.

The Russians were on the left of the allied line while the Prussian cavalry was moving up to support their attack.

Poles await the assault.

The Prussians run into trouble advancing into range of the guns.

The Russians assault is going well.

Until it isn't.

The Russians massed their attack on the Polish right.  Eventually they were able to use their 10 battalion and two guns to overwhelm the 3 Polish battalion and one gun they were facing.

The Prussians managed to breakthrough the Polish line on the right in one place but it cost them their Brigade to do so.  The Russians breakthrough on the the right took so much time that the Poles were able to retreat in an orderly fashion and with the Prussian cavalry out of action there was no effective pursuit.

Thanks guys!  I like the period a lot too.  It is rather underserved in popular consciousness as well as in the miniature world unfortunately.

Where I live there are a lot of people and places named Kosciuszko but little is known.  I teach a class on his life at the local community college from time to time but few people take it and it often doesn't run because of lack of interest.
