Grendels first Frostgrave models
« on: March 13, 2016, 07:03:53 PM »
Hi guys,

first post here, my gaming group has just started playing Frostgrave. its fun and enfuriating (D20 generates massive range of results).

I am doing a dark elf warband and so picked up a bunch of the plastics to make the models.

first off is the Knight (hand weapon, mail armour and shield).

He is based on an Ironhalo brickworks base with army painter snow, body is from an executioner as is the sword arm, shield is from the regular DE warriors, and head is a corsair.

Overall i am happy with the job, the purple came out nice as did the silver with the purple sheen. very happy with the bone armour.

Areas for improvement, still need to get better at thinner paint, but thats the eternal struggle.

i am still on the fence about the flesh, it did not work overly well, the paint was a bit odd, but from a distance, he looks quite evil. i will paint the next guy and if the flesh comes out very different i will go back and redo him, but i will hold off till then. its the weakest part of the job close up, but ok from gaming distance. the eyes came out well though.

its important to get the flesh right as the wizard is the bare ass naked sorceress from avatars of war.

Questions and comments welcome.

Wow! Fantastic. I like the purple eyes.

Will this model be a knight?

Lovely start for your drow warband! I toyed with putting one together, where I struggled was finding models without armour, almost all manufacturers stick them in mail or plate. There are great wizards and apprentices out there though! Post your progress...

That is a stunning paint job. You got skilz ... I love that skin tone ... that will look great across the warband. I do like limited palette paintjobs very nice.

My only thought is the purple tounge .. makes him look sick or dead. Dark elves still bleed ... i think much as I love limited palette work there is much to be said for spot contrast ... If the tongue was a bit pinker it would make them feel even colder on the outside. Just a  thought.

Its great to see the variety people are bringing to Frostgrave!  I love the paintwork you did on the cloak, and his face is very well done, too.  Can't wait to see more of this warband.
