GoT The Faith of the Seven
« on: 16 March 2016, 08:30:35 AM »
Going through my shit I realized I have quite a good represent start for a sevensided sept:

Left to right I see the Maiden, the Stranger, the Mother, the Father. If anyone knows of similarly styled statues of things which could represent the Smith, Crone and Warrior I'd be much obliged.

That's not a bad start Hammers!
It depends on how close you want to stick to the GRRM descriptions. Don't forget only the highest status septs would have had statuary. Catelyn visits a rural sept where the images of the seven are simply crude paintings, and there's the treetrunk sized totems that Stannis and the Red Witch have burned of course. I'm sure frescoes and carvings in low relief were also popular in septs (once you figure out the architectural conundrum of where to put the door!).

I've modelled a series of rock carvings not unlike the old Norse runic stones, representing the faces of the children of the forest and the star of the Andals, while dragon carvings would also be in keeping for the Targaryens.

I'm planning a few representing the Seven to be dotted around the landscape, like the little wayside shrines you see in parts of Europe and the Kirby Stephen Loki stone.
I imagine the warrior, the mother and the smith would be more numerous. I'm guessing that there's potentially a rich local tradition around you from which to draw inspiration from
Warriors dreams, summer grasses, all that remains

Rackham used to sell some statues, just do a quick search for them as the images should give you a good idea.
I reckon there is one that will suit The Warrior pretty well.
 ;)

Of course, they are OOP now but an ad in the Bazaar might get you one.
 :)

May be worth taking a look at the others in the range too:

EDIT: Now I have had a butchers at the Rackham range, I notice that the two metal ones do indeed come from them.
So, maybe Hammers is already aware of the Warrior that I suggested.....

What a brilliant idea.

I'm sure I saw someone here build a sept... Wasn't it you, Sukhe_Bator?  ??? ???

(Another one for the LAF GoT compendium thread!)

Im building a sept as well, I can post some WIP photos.  Mine is way different from Sukhes and I don't make use of statues like Hammers does, so I guess we'll end up with a nice and varied selection of septs. :) :)

We really all should build one apiece and end up with seven - who's next!? lol

I think I will be a pillaged sept. That way I don't need all seven statues, just the smashed up parts of some mixed up with burnt timbers, etc.

That is an awesome idea Hammers!

I was also planning to do a circular 'sacred' grove of cut down weirwoods... 6 white stumps, somewhat mossy and overgrown, but with faint red/brown rings near the bark where the blood red sap would have risen...

I have been working on ideas for one. Getting the size right without taking up too much table space is my current sticking point. I was thinking of a Greek/Russian style cross shaped building, made from Pegasus walls, of which I have a lot of.

Ah but see my thread... there is much discussion as to whether the 7 sided concept is architecturally possible.
The GoT series concept designers came up with a novel solution... since 7 is an odd number and difficult to construct architecturally, they made the Great Sept of Baelor in King's Landing 14-sided on the outside, with 7 internal spaces/areas for worship...
