Lovely looking minis, I have those for use as Tully’s in a never started ASOIAF project.
For reference the minis are sold by Black Tree Designs - men of Averaign

Splendid Peder. A lot of gruesome character in those.

I enjoyed painting these miniatures of a slightly larger size for skirmish gaming. Not quite in par with the Bretonnians created for GW by, I believe, the Perry brothers. But they do the trick, matched with Game Zone and the aforementioned GW. The latter are awfully expensive on the second hand market.  The plastic variants are rubbish. Luckily I only need a a few, so I will gets some archers, horse retainers and a couple of knights more.

They look great! Some very appropriately grim Boltons!

Suitably gruesome looking Boltons

What’s next for your project?

Some westerland  troops. Mostly billmen of houses Marbrand and Clegane. I have just completed a knight and a horse retainer of house Trant (of Greygallows, the Stormlands). After that I aim to do a some archers, some in armed and in livery, others in non-descriptive levy colours.

Given how awesome your Bolton’s look, I’m really looking forward to the next instalment

Difficult heraldry, Marbrand:

Possibly my favourite Westerosi house, but sadly quite difficult (and ugly) heraldry.
There are some real world examlex of burning trees in heraldry btw:

These may be less cartoonesk than the one you posted.

To be fair, one of the examples you linked to looks rather similar....  ;)

It does look a bit cartoony viewed at close range, but translated into a 28mm shield it may well look very different...particularly if I was the one trying to paint it  :D

Haha, fair enough!  lol

I like this one the best, but that's even more complicated to paint on little shields:

Looking forward to seeing them. I did a Marbrand shield a while back, it ended up being mostly flame and very little tree.
